Welcome to When God Called
Website Roadmap

My callings from God span over twenty years.
God first reached out to me during the 2000s. I didn’t realize that what I was experiencing was coming from God. That’s why my first calling has no date certain. It was an incident that I will never forget.
Nor did I realize that, during my second calling, God was calling me. I heard songs playing in my head during my second calling, but I didn’t realize they were coming from God. My second calling began after my dad died, on October 25, 2012, and occurred during the years 2012 and 2013.

I began writing during my second calling because I felt led to do so. I started my travels at the end of 2012, shortly after my dad died, and traveled the world for the first half of 2013. While traveling, I was journaling.
It wasn’t until the third time I was called that I realized God was calling me. My third calling began after my mom died on October 25, 2019.
At the beginning of my third calling, I began writing down the songs God was playing in my head on a legal pad. If it weren’t for hearing these songs playing in my head, I would have dismissed my calling and thought all the things I’ve witnessed were just coincidences. At the start of this calling, I was improving my parents’ property in San Diego, California, to sell it.
My writings grew, and I realized that God was speaking to me not just through songs, but also through dreams and visions, videos, and other ways. I receive cell phone notifications from God. As my calling has progressed, I have begun to understand why I am being chosen. What I eventually came to understand is that God is making me a blessing to the world.

The Holy Spirit led me to this video, below, which confirms that Jesus was born on April 17 (my birthday), though Jesus was born in 6 B.C.

HISTORY CHANNEL
At the beginning of my third calling, through the songs He played to me, I realized God wanted me to write a book. This book, a website, is a labor of love and my testimony. I’m sharing what I experienced with all of you in the hope that everyone can be saved. This is what God wants. He’s giving all of us time to realize that our only way to eternal salvation is through his son, Jesus Christ.
I have never sought out fortune-tellers, tarot cards, or any other form of divination, except for playing around with an Ouija board at a sleepover when I was about 12 years old. That was a terrible experience:
I asked who I was speaking with, and the planchette (a heart-shaped object used to move across the board to spell out messages) moved slowly and methodically across the board, spelling out, “The Devil.” Of course, being young girls, we had no idea what we were messing around with, and we squealed with a mixture of fear and delight at something that didn’t use batteries and was moving on its own. Against better judgment, I did it once again in my teens, but this time nothing strange happened.

God is using tarot readers to communicate with me to inform me about things happening without my knowledge. I receive YouTube link notifications on my cell phone. Otherwise, I would be in the dark.
A BRIEF HISTORY OF TAROT
A Note about Tarot:
For my entire biblical understanding, I was taught to avoid seeking out mediums, tarot readers, or anyone who acts as a bridge to God.
https://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/bible-verses-about-mediums
God is using Tarot to speak with me because I would otherwise be in the dark about things that were going on around me, and behind my back.
I am grateful to the Tarot readers who have obeyed God by reading my story to me. God has given Tarot readers remarkable intuitive skills. This is the life purpose of the Tarot reader.
I have wrongly judged what Tarot is about; it’s not sinister. What I’ve learned is that Tarot readers are communicating with the Holy Spirit for insight into our lives.

During my third calling from God, I have suffered greatly:
- filing for bankruptcy,
- the loss of my home,
- divorce from my second husband,
- the death of my mother,
- when I ran out of money for food and fuel for my parents’ van, while improving my parents’ property, my three siblings abandoned me and left me for dead,
- being sued in probate court by my sister,
- moving my residence five times during 2023-2024,
- after having sheltered a homeless man in my home, he stole my car, cell phone, and apartment keys (I got them back), and
- hospitalization with pneumonia and close to death, learning how to walk again after months of being bedridden.
God shepherded me through all of these battles.
What I’ve learned during my Spiritual Awakening:
- I am a descendant of Jesus Christ.
- God created me as the second copy of Jesus Christ.
- My birthday is the same day as Jesus Christ (April 17), although Jesus was born in 6 B.C. The Holy Spirit confirmed Jesus’s birth to me by leading me to the video above.
- Since my birth, I have been attacked many times because Satan knows who I am and is trying to stop me. God has saved my life every time.
- I am a Chosen One — one of the 144,000 spoken about in the book of Revelation.
- Within the videos I am posting to this website, I am being called the Chosen One, a Healer, an Empress, a High Priestess, an Earth Angel, a Divine Feminine, an Alchemist, an Ancient Soul, an Empath, an Influencer, a Prophet, a Shaman, a Lightworker, a Spiritual Warrior, and a Star Seed.
God’s Will Be Done,

Star seeds are advanced spiritual beings from other planets and realms who incarnate on Earth to inspire and heal humanity and to participate in the planet’s evolution.

Revelation 21
A New Heaven and a New Earth

21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. 7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters, and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
The New Jerusalem, the Bride of the Lamb

9 One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.” 10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. 11 It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. 12 It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. 13 There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south, and three on the west. 14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates, and its walls. 16 The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia[c] in length, and as wide and high as it is long. 17 The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits[d] thick.[e] 18 The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. 19 The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, 20 the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.[f] 21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
revelation 22
Eden Restored

22 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb 2 down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. 3 No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. 4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. 5 There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.
St. John and the Angel

6 The angel said to me, “These words are trustworthy and true. The Lord, the God who inspires the prophets, sent his angel to show his servants the things that must soon take place.”
7 “Look, I am coming soon! Blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy written in this scroll.”
8 I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. 9 But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your fellow prophets and with all who keep the words of this scroll. Worship God!”
10 Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near. 11 Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.”
Epilogue: Invitation and Warning

12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.
14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you[g] this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”
17 The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.
18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll.
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen.

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel” (which being interpreted is, “God with us”).
Matthew 1:23

BOOK OF REVELATION
The number 144,000 appears three times in the Book of Revelation:
- Revelation 7:3–8:
saying: “Do not harm the earth or the sea or the trees, until we have sealed the servants of God on their foreheads.”
And I heard the number of the sealed, 144,000, sealed from every tribe of the sons of Israel:
12,000 from the tribe of Judah were sealed,
12,000 from the tribe of Reuben,
12,000 from the tribe of Gad,
12,000 from the tribe of Asher,
12,000 from the tribe of Naphtali,
12,000 from the tribe of Manasseh,
12,000 from the tribe of Simeon,
12,000 from the tribe of Levi,
12,000 from the tribe of Issachar,
12,000 from the tribe of Zebulun,
12,000 from the tribe of Joseph,
12,000 from the tribe of Benjamin were sealed.
- Revelation 14:1:
Then I looked, and behold, on Mount Zion stood the Lamb, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.
- Revelation 14:3–5:
and they were singing a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and before the elders. No one could learn that song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. It is these who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. It is these who follow the Lamb wherever he goes. These have been redeemed from mankind as firstfruits for God and the Lamb, and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are blameless.

ZODIAC SIGNS OF THOSE IN MY STORY
To better assist me in understanding who the Tarot readers are describing, I’ve created a chart of the people in my story with their zodiac signs and Chinese zodiac signs, mostly my family, but also other significant people. I’ve noticed that the zodiac signs don’t always align with the people in my story, but the story itself seems to be accurate. I believe this may be because many of these readings are for the “collective,” meaning the readers are picking up other people’s energies.
As you listen to the readings. you might like to refer to the signs of the people in my story to draw your own conclusions.

The 12 Zodiac Signs & Meanings
Aries ♈️ (March 21 – April 19)
Symbol: The Ram
Ruling Planet: Mars
Ruling House: First House of Self
Key Traits: Competitive, energetic, impulsive, fearless
The cardinal fire sign is known for being dynamic, athletic, and having an insatiable appetite for winning. For this reason, they take great pride in being early adopters of anything and everything from the hottest new sneaker drop to the latest iPhone. And they pretty much live to compete and argue. Ram people tend to have the makings of a pro athlete, trend-setting influencer, or lawyer (former prosecutor and now Vice President Kamala Harris was born with her moon in Aries).
Taurus ♉️ (April 20 – May 20)
Symbol: The Bull
Ruling Planet: Venus
Ruling House: Second House of Income
Key Traits: Resolute, grounded, tenacious, sensual
The fixed earth sign has quite a reputation for being the most stubborn one of the zodiac, but remember, there are fixed signs in each element! Thanks to their Venusian influence, Taureans are actually fairly chill. They’re known for loving luxury and indulgence, being super-loyal, and enjoying art (whether they create or just appreciate it). (Sound a bit like Ariana Grande? Although her sun is in Cancer, her Venus is in sweet Taurus.) They tend to adore spa days and sweets. They’re known for taking their time — whether that means having a really long fuse to get fired up, dragging their feet to take action, or being lazy and languorous when it comes to intimacy.
Gemini ♊️ (May 21 – June 20)
Symbol: The Twins
Ruling Planet: Mercury
Ruling House: Third House of Communication
Key Traits: Witty, curious, charming, flighty
The word “mercurial” might have very well been created for Gemini, the mutable air sign that lives for communication in all forms. They’re lovers of sharing whatever is on their mind, whenever, however. (Amy Schumer’s sun and Venus are in the loquacious air sign.) Although don’t assume they’re always outgoing. They can be reserved and shy one minute and incredibly chatty the next. Given their innate mastery of language and social skills, they tend to have a wide, diverse circle of friends and gravitate to career paths that allow them to express themselves and utilize their super-buzzy brains (think: marketing/PR, politics, publishing).
Cancer ♋️ (June 21 – July 22)
Symbol: The Crab
Ruling Planet: Moon
Ruling House: Fourth House of Home Life
Key Traits: Compassionate, giving, sentimental, nurturing
The cardinal water sign, influenced by the shimmering maternal moon, is one of the greatest dreamers and do-ers of the zodiac. As the ruler of the Fourth House, which deals with family and home life, they’re homebodies who prioritize their connections with loved ones and achieving a lasting sense of security. But their crabbiness absolutely will come into play when they’re frustrated, feel put upon, or are otherwise catapulted into a moody headspace. They’ll go into their self-protective “shells,” requiring time away from others to take care of themselves before they can get back to taking care of everyone else. (Mindy Kaling has a stellium — her sun, moon, and Mercury — in the endearing water sign.)
Leo ♌️ (July 23 – August 22)
Symbol: The Lion
Ruling Planet: Sun
Ruling House: Fifth House of Romance and Self-Expression
Key Traits: Charismatic, generous, optimistic, dramatic
The fixed fire sign is ruled by the confident sun, which informs their positive, cheerful, gung-ho vibe. Driven and self-assured leaders, they tend to be oriented toward taking action in life, and they’re born feeling like they can accomplish their wildest dreams thanks to a glimmery combo of magnetism, luck, and endlessly believing in themselves. (Former President Barack Obama’s sun and Mercury are in the charismatic fire sign.) Although they might struggle to step out of being self-focused, they can be extremely loyal, devoted, and adore showering their loved ones in playful energy and all of life’s finest things.
Virgo ♍️ (August 23 – September 22)
Symbol: The Virgin or Maiden
Ruling Planet: Mercury
Ruling House: Sixth House of Wellness and Daily Routine
Key Traits: Health-conscious, analytical, service-oriented, detail-focused
The mutable earth sign might very well be mistaken as an air sign, given the influence of Mercury, which means their minds are pretty much going nonstop. Lovers of lists, spreadsheets, and blank journals, Virgos are the go-to researchers, stand-out organizers, and pretty much A students of the zodiac. They’re also perfectionists who adore working hard to make the end result of any pursuit “just right” — whether that’s a recipe, a professional project, or a search for a partner. (Or in the case of Beyonce, whose sun is in the earth sign, the entertainment and art we can’t get enough of.) Speaking of partners and loved ones, they’ll often bend over backward to help and serve their nearest and dearest.
Libra ♎️ (September 23 – October 22)
Symbol: The Scales
Ruling Planet: Venus
Ruling House: Seventh House of Partnership
Key Traits: Romantic, artistic, indecisive, diplomatic
The cardinal air sign was born to bring balance, harmony, and justice to their work and relationships. Given their Venusian influence, they’re lovers of art and beauty, known for being social butterflies and the ultimate hosts. And as the ruler of the Seventh House of Partnership, they prioritize one-on-one bonds, especially of the romantic variety. But although they tend to be interested in achieving serenity at all costs and connecting with a wide range of people, they’re not sheep. They’re go-getters (Serena Williams is one!) who will stand up for what they believe in, dreaming big and putting in the time and energy to ensure a fair result.
Scorpio ♏️ (October 23 – November 21)
Symbol: The Scorpion
Ruling Planets: Pluto and Mars
Ruling House: Eighth House of Emotional Bonds and Sexual Intimacy
Key Traits: Mysterious, magnetic, power-seeking, spiritual
The fixed water sign is known for being one of — if not the — most private sign in the zodiac. Co-ruled by transformative Pluto and go-getter Mars, they’re able to command people’s attention with their intense, powerful presence and air of mystery. They’re also very much in touch with their spirituality and sexuality, but they hold their cards close to their chest. (Fiercely private family man Ryan Gosling has his sun and Mercury in the water sign.) Even after being in a relationship (platonic, romantic, or business-related) with a Scorpio for years, you might not know the whole story behind their emotional wounds and at times rough-around-the-edges tone. But once they’re in any kind of emotional entanglement, the resolute, razor-focused sign is in it.
Sagittarius ♐️ (November 22 – December 21)
Symbol: The Archer
Ruling Planet: Jupiter
Ruling House: Ninth House of Adventure and Higher Learning
Key Traits: Philosophical, free-spirited, unfiltered, wanderlusting
Ruled by fortunate Jupiter, which brings a magnifying effect to everything it touches, Sagittarians are big, life-loving personalities who adore globe-trotting, being at the heart of any party, and exploring as much as life has to offer. They’re also born philosophers who are endlessly passionate about their beliefs and have a tendency to hop on a soapbox frequently in order to share their worldview, often in a way that pulls no punches. (President Biden has his ascendant in Sag, which is why he’s known for his no-nonsense rhetoric. “Folks!”) They’re natural born comedians, entertainers, politicians, and/or generally gravitate to career paths that allow for lots of travel.
Capricorn ♑️ (December 22 – January 19)
Symbol: The Goat
Ruling Planet: Saturn
Ruling House: Tenth House of Career and Public Image
Key Traits: Traditional, down-to-earth, industrious, disciplined
If you want someone who’s perpetually motivated to achieve on your team, you’re going to want to tap someone whose chart includes the cardinal earth sign Capricorn. People born with Cap are on a lifelong climb up a series of increasingly steep mountains, as they’re driven to put their noses to the grindstone, succeed, and earn recognition for their diligent, no-nonsense work. In fact, it’s for this reason that they have a rep for being workaholics. But they’re also extremely loyal, often exhibit a gut-busting hilarious dry sense of humor, and ability to show you exactly what’s possible when you commit to a pragmatic, steady, grounded approach. John Legend is a perfect example of an industrious double Cap (it’s his sun and his rising/ascendant sign).
Aquarius ♒️ (January 20 – February 18)
Symbol: The Water Bearer
Ruling Planet: Uranus
Ruling House: Eleventh House of Networking
Key Traits: Humanitarian, eccentric, individualistic, cool
The fixed air sign is making plenty of headlines as we head into what’s been coined the “Age of Aquarius.” Quirky, generally progressive, skeptical, and social (albeit in a cool, aloof, friends-with-everyone way), those with the Water Bearer’s influence in their charts are wired to prioritize “we” over “me,” gravitating to causes and activities that hold the greater good of society as a whole in mind. (Look no further than Alicia Keys, who has a stellium, meaning three or more signs, in Aquarius: her sun, Mercury, and Mars.) They gravitate to more platonic relationships than deeply intimate entanglements and might even opt for non-traditional arrangements, as they love to strike out against convention whenever possible. And given electric Uranus’ involvement, they’re tech-savvy and science-minded.
Pisces ♓️ (February 19 – March 20)
Symbol: The Fish
Ruling Planets: Neptune
Ruling House: Twelfth House of Spirituality
Key Traits: Empathic, artistic, psychic, dreamy
Imagine not only being super-tuned into your own feelings but also being wired to pick up on and take on everyone else’s emotions. Now you’re in the headspace of a person who has the significant presence of the mutable water sign Pisces in their chart. Incredibly sensitive and intuitive, they are the healers, the hopeless romantics, the artists, and the escapists of the zodiac. While they have an instinct to get swept up in otherworldly daydreams to get away from any emotional pain, the healthiest way for them to channel these deeply-felt emotions is through creative outlets like theater, music, or poetry. (The late opera-loving RBG’s sun and Venus were in the water sign.) And thanks to their Neptune influence, they have keen imaginations and tend to be up for exploring all things related to spirituality, the metaphysical, and psychology.

There Are Actually 3 Callings for Christians (Not One)
Dr. Michael A. Milton

Throughout my pastoral ministry, I have been asked to help individuals discern God’s call. Yet, I must always ask the believer, “Which call are you talking about?”
The word of God describes several kinds of calling, including a general call to everyone, an effectual call to His people, and what we might describe as a technical call to a particular vocation in life.

To understand, please read:
The General Call
God gives the general call to every creature on earth. We are all called to turn away from our sins and to turn toward God and His plan for our salvation. This is the “fundamental prerequisite for the performance of any Christian service.”1 We are all called to live according to God’s law; we are all called to a life of service to God and our fellow man. So, every Christian—indeed, every person on earth—has a calling of a sort. This is known as God’s general call.

The Effectual Call
Many Christians, such as myself, believe (along with Calvin and other Reformers) that there is also an effectual calling. In the effectual calling, the Holy Spirit improves upon the general call and makes it effective unto salvation. Those who respond to Christ in faith are the recipients of this effectual, internal call.
We may also observe from the Bible a third kind of call, a technical call:

The Technical Call
This is a calling related to one’s life’s work.
John Calvin put it this way,
“The Lord bids each one of us in all life’s actions to look to his calling. For He knows with what great restlessness human nature flames, with what fickleness it is borne hither and thither, how its ambition longs to embrace various things at once. Therefore, lest through our stupidity and rashness everything be turned topsy-turvy, he has appointed duties for every man in his particular way of life. And that no one may thoughtlessly transgress his limits, He has named those various kinds of livings “callings.” Therefore, each individual has his own kind of living assigned to him by the Lord as a sort of sentry post, so that he may not heedlessly wander about throughout life.”2

Your Duty: To Investigate Your Gifts and Circumstances
Calvin taught that all men and women have a calling in life, and that it is their duty to investigate the gifts and circumstances of their lives to discover and exercise that calling to the glory of God. Of course, this doctrine brought enormous joy to the humble workers of that day, as it should today.
Within that broader technical calling, there are those who are a part of God’s kingdom (that is, those who have received an effectual call) who are also called to a certain, peculiar work in the kingdom.

Some Are Called to a Certain, Peculiar Kingdom Work
For instance, some are called to go and journey to another land (such as Abraham). Others may receive a technical call to do something as special as bearing the Son of God (there’s only one of those: Mary!). Others (and this is our concern at present), having been called to repentance and faith, having been summoned by God Himself to be a part of His kingdom, receive a technical call to preach and minister in His name. Among those we would include the prophets and the apostles.

A Powerful Example
A powerful example of one who knew he had this particular or technical call was the Old Testament prophet Amos. Amos had been called by God to leave his humble rural life to journey to the Northern Kingdom of Israel with a divine warning. At Bethel, the capital of the Northern Kingdom, Amaziah the priest got wind of Amos’ prophecies. He went to the king, Jeroboam, and conspired to get rid of Amos. “The land is not able to bear all his words,” he said (Amos 7:10).
Amos answered:
I was no prophet, nor was I a son of a prophet, But I was a sheep breeder and a tender of sycamore fruit. Then the lord took me as I followed the flock, and the lord said to me, “Go, prophesy to My people Israel.” Now therefore, hear the word of the lord… (7:14-16).

Discern Your Technical Call Carefully
In this passage, Amos grounds his authority to preach to the resistant hearers solely on his technical call. In fact, he tells us here that he once had another technical call—to be a sheep breeder and tender of sycamore trees—but that now the Lord has commanded him to prophesy.
It Is likely that you, or someone you know well (perhaps a spouse, a sibling, a child, a parent, or a good friend) is in the process of considering whether or not he or she has a technical call to ministry. Discerning this carefully, and gaining clarity on the nature of the call, is one of the most important things they—or you—will ever do.

Pray Until You Know
I am reminded of my own experience of discerning my technical call. The significance of this stage of the process was pressed home to me by an aging Nazarene preacher who once asked me, “Son, are you called?” I said, “I think so.” He asked again, “Son, I said, ‘Are you called?’” He grew somewhat agitated. So did I. I answered once more, “Yes, I think I am.”
He then drew closer to me and looked me right in the eye, “Son, you’d better know you are called. In the end, your call is all you’ve got. Let me tell you what that means, boy. When they spread rumors about you, when they reject you, when they betray you, when they run you out of town, the only thing that will stand you in good stead will be that you know that you know that you know that you are called. Now go home and pray until you know!”

We Can Withstand the Pressure When We Know We Are Called
Those were hard words. And good words. Amos knew. Amos could withstand the pressure of the priest and the king because he knew that he knew that he knew that he was called.
So too must you know that you are called.

A SYNOPSIS OF
MY THREE DIVINE CALLINGS
My First Calling
Approximately 20 years ago while I was working an evening shift as a word processor for Latham & Watkins, the Holy Spirit told me (I didn’t hear someone speaking. I knew it intuitively.) to do an Internet search on my birthday (April 17) and Jesus. I was stunned to find out that millions of people believe this is Jesus’s actual birthday, in 6 B.C.
My Second Calling
In 2012, I went through a year-long bout of mania. It happened shortly after 1) my 15-year-old dog Tuffy died, 2) I had suffered a job loss, and 3) my dad died (in October). That’s when I started traveling around the world, visiting six countries in 6 months and spending an inordinate sum of money. About one year after it started, I sought help from a behavioral specialist, who had diagnosed me with mania. No one knows the cause of mania. I have my own theory. Being called by God “puts” you into a manic state. The treatment I received for mania is taking Lithium, which is actually just “salt.”

What I discovered shortly after being diagnosed is that there are many others who experience God and are diagnosed as manic. Search on “God” and “mania” to see what I mean. You can read all about others’ stories. I do not doubt they had callings, but I think each one of us has had a unique experience. I can only speak to my own experience. I didn’t need much sleep; I felt like God was giving me permission to do whatever I wanted. I traveled (Disney’s Atlantis cruiseline, Paris, France, Venice, Italy, New Zealand, Ireland), took a course in Phlebotomy, started my own business as a distributor for Stages of Beauty, and I was dropping $2,000+ in all types of stores: a sporting goods store, a scuba store, a stationery store. I bought 5 tickets in the front row of the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, to see Shen Yun with my family. Those five seats were the only five seats where we could sit together. I don’t think it was a coincidence. My mom was so moved that she cried at the beauty of the performance.
Here is my theory. I think that God wants us to be happy and to live a good life. I have had a lot of heartache in my life. I think he wanted me to travel and enjoy myself! I was 50 years old, had worked all my life, and always went along on scuba trips that Biff wanted to do. I never got to take a trip to anyplace that I wanted to go. I traveled to all of those places within about six months. Can you imagine how much planning goes into even one trip, and I took six trips abroad. It’s only because of God that I was able to pull it off.
My Third Calling
This is the calling I’m absolutely 100% positive God is calling me to. I am experiencing the Beatitudes.
Eric Andersen (my brother-in-law) thought I was drunk one night when I was on the phone with my sister, Pam (Eric’s wife and my sister), about her items being moved from my parents’ house. I was just happy. This will explain it:
What is the main message of the Beatitudes?
In summary, the inner happiness spoken of in the Beatitudes is God’s gift of blessings granted to those who choose to be disciples. This blessing results from the realization of a person’s spiritual poverty (5:3) and an acknowledgment of one’s total dependence on God (5:5).
The Holy Spirit is constantly helping me. It’s the only way that I am getting through the improvements being made in my parents’ house. The Holy Spirit never leaves any of us. I’m able to see what He’s doing for me, which is a multitude of varied and disparate things. That’s why we are all to pray for what we want. I had fallen out of the habit of praying years ago, but I’m doing it once again. He is unbelievably magnificent!
